Bridget is a textile artist based in Offenham, Worcestershire, who works with a variety of materials to create complex, delicate pieces that explore the world we inhabit. Her lifelong love of fabric and thread has been combined with her fascination for maps creating unique, intricate pieces that capture the very essence of time, place and people.
“I have never forgotten the first time I looked from an aeroplane window and got a bird’s eye view of the impact we have on our world, all mapped out beneath me. We use maps to understand the relationships between places. I take this a step further in my work, using maps to link people with places, telling a small part of a person’s story in the process, perhaps capturing a specific moment in time. “ Recently Bridget has been incorporating natural and human forms in her work. Each piece starts with a narrative from which she intricately layers interpretation, creating her own beautiful hand-stitched cartography of the story. |
